Dr. Iosif is a graduate of Carol Davila School of Medicine, in Bucharest, Romania. Prior to the child and infant AIDS crisis of the early 1990's in Romania, Dr. Iosif held several positions in primary health care and emergency medicine, while pursuing training for full accreditation in epidemiology and biostatistics. Dr. Iosif has extensive experience in all aspects of psychoactive, cardiovascular, anticancer and antimicrobial drug protocols, from trial design and monitoring to the design and analysis of bioequivalence and pharmacokinetic studies. More recently, he has lent his expertise to the Romanian National Commission for AIDS, where he is Chief Epidemiologist. Dr. Iosif is a principal investigator at G. Bals Institute in Bucharest and is currently coordinating drug studies for leading multinational companies.
Dr San-Marina pursued medical studies at the Carol Davila School of Medicine prior to his move to Canada in 1980. At the University of Toronto, he completed a BSc (Hon.) specialist degree in Pharmacology & Toxicology and then an MSc in Behavioral Pharmacology & Biostatistics. He holds a PhD degree in Biology from York University in Toronto and was a post-doctoral fellow at Penn State School of Medicine and a Research Fellow at Princess Margaret Hospital in Toronto. Dr. San-Marina is currently pursuing the goal of developing individual therapies for leukemia using microarray analysis and biomolecular modeling.
